Bolsa Família: Find out everything about the program

Announcement

Bolsa Família is back, bringing commitment and social justice to millions of Brazilian families. This is Brazil's largest income transfer program, internationally recognized for having lifted millions of families out of hunger.

The new benefit model

The new Bolsa Família program is designed to take into account the size and characteristics of families. Families with three or more members will receive more than those with only one member. In addition, the program seeks to integrate public policies, strengthening families' access to basic rights such as health, education and social assistance.

Announcement

Bolsa Família not only guarantees a basic income, but also acts in complementary actions through coordination with other policies, such as social assistance, sports, science and work, promoting the overcoming of poverty and social transformation.

New benefits and values

Bolsa Família brings new benefits and adjusted values to better serve families in different situations:

Who can join Bolsa Família?

To receive benefits, the main rule is to have a monthly income per person of up to R$ 218. This means that the total family income, divided by the number of members, must be a maximum of R$ 218. If the monthly income per person is within this criterion, the family is eligible for the program.

How to apply for Bolsa Família?

The eligible family must be registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (Cadastro Único), with correct and updated data. Registration is done at registration or social assistance service centers in the municipality.

It is important to note that registration is a prerequisite, but does not guarantee immediate entry into the program. Every month, Bolsa Família automatically identifies the families that will be included and will begin receiving the benefit.

How to access the benefits?

A card is issued to the person responsible for the family, who can withdraw the benefit monthly. When registration is complete, a Digital Social Savings Account is automatically opened, allowing the beneficiary to make transfers, pay bills and use PIX through the app. Otherwise, a simple account is opened for payment of the benefit.

Benefits are made available in the last 10 business days of each month, according to the last digit of the Social Identification Number (NIS) of the person responsible.

Maintenance of benefits

To continue receiving the benefit, registration data must be updated regularly, with a maximum of 24 months without updating. Changes in address, contact telephone number, and family composition must be reported to the department responsible for registration in the municipality.

In addition, families must meet commitments in the areas of health and education, known as conditionalities:
